3 Quick Tips for the Perfect Second Interview
Congratulations! You’ve made it to the second round in the interview process. If you’ve made it this far, you’ve passed their basic compatibility requirements and now its time to shine.
Prepare for the Format
Second interviews can sometimes take several hours and can often include multiple heads of departments, so make sure you inquire about who will sit in yours when contacted. If this is the case, you’ll want to spend time reviewing which department will be present and how your role would work with that team based on the job description. Once you get a better understanding of what each department is looking for in a potential candidate, you’ll know how to better tailor your answers.
Get Specific
The second interview gives you a chance to drill down on areas you may have only touched on in the first interview. Prepare specific examples of that showcase your skills, past projects and accomplishments, and work experience. This is also a great opportunity to address anything you didn’t get a chance to discussed earlier.
Ask Questions
If you’ve made it this far, you’re being seriously considered for the position. Take this opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the role, its responsibilities, what the first 90 days look like, and more. Bonus – asking questions shows the interviewer how serious and interested you are, and while that may not get you the role alone – it certainly helps!
