Some of the best insurance jobs are in the claims department. Insurance claims examiner jobs, fraud investigator jobs and insurance adjuster jobs all relate to investigating and paying customers for claims submitted to an insurance company. Depending upon the specific job, a claims associate may be called upon to provide appraisals, investigate people or events related to a claim or to negotiate a settlement.

HELP! I am anxious to return to the insurance industry after a 20 yr. lapse, due to starting a family and a career change (nursing).
Working my way up (auto claims)took approx. 5 yrs, starting at Hartford as receptionist to dispatcher (for auto appraisers).
To increase my knowledge of various types of claims and coverages, i took on a claims processing position with an insurance agency, with promotions over a 3 year period,to claims rep, reviewing and settling first party auto, homeowners and some product liability cases (via draft authority).
The increased experience led me to Prudential as a auto theft/reoovery adjuster, workly closely with S.I.U, which I really enjoyed. I was very sucessful in identifying fraudulent cases.
My promotion request (as auto appraiser) was accepted. After a one month, out of state, training course was completed, (Vale Tech, Chambersburg, PA.)i was literally "out on the road" appraising first and third party auto claims, covering several counties in NJ.,including drive-in locations. Prudential provided me with a company car and expense account.
When relocating from Bergen to Ocean county after my maternity leave, i had to (regretfully) leave the company.
My interest in a new (nursing) career started while volunteering as an EMT on the first aid squad.
During nursing school (LPN), i remained on the squad, holding several titles/positions and started a small retail business to support myself and two young daughters.
I am hoping with the various experience obtained over the years, that can utilize this for a claims position; PIP, medical fraud, etc. Any suggestions? Thanking you in advance for your imput.

I had an Insurance Adjusters License for 3 years in Florida. I was never able to obtain a job in the field. The State requested that I send it back so I complied. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist 20 Years. I have had unfortunatley quite a bit of experience in fraud working in PIP clinics in Florida. Deposed 11 times by various Insurance companies, State Investigators and SIU Departments. I now live in NJ. I am interested in obtaining an entry level postion with an Insurance company. I have completed a Medical billing/coding program this past year. I am thinking about taking an on-line Adjusters All Lines coarse to obtain my Texas License. Do you think this is a good avenue to take? Please respnd by e-mailing me at Whitelight32812@aol.com or respond on this site.

I possess all of the operational/administrative related skills and experience required of claims handling at the Agency level. I currently hold a P & C license and am a dues paying member of CISR.

In addition, I have served at Agency CSR/Account Manager level for many years. For the last two years, I managed GBP Risk Solutions Commercial Claims Department, including reporting directly to the Agency VP & Account Executives for Customer Relationship Management. Other duties include Agency Communication, and Marketing & Operations Support.

I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss available Claims Adjuster/processor positions in Tucson Arizona.

Best regards,
Elizabeth Parker, CISR
