17 years ago I was fired from my job. I overused the company's call in policy and called in too many times. The truth is that my Mother was ill at the time and I was compelled to call in to the job in order to be able to assist her with her illness. My mother is no longer living.

How should this question be best answered during an interview.

Something that ocurred along these lines 17 years ago is probably not going to be of much concern to an employer. How you have handled your job since will be much more relevant. I think your could explain by telling the truth. Most employers will understand. And add, what came out of it was that I learned I need to be more open with my employer if anything along these lines comes up.

I was given a choice to be fired or quit. I refused a drug test after working at company for over three years. I live in a right to work state and all this drama really didn't matter but it happened. I was hanging with a co worker who was ripping others off and to prove myself I was asked to d/t. I could not prove my innocence and lost a really great job. I regret smoking weed after work! You may not use drugs at work but they are still in your system at your job sometimes and I understand that now and I learned to be more careful with who I share what I do off the clock a lot more careful!

I was notified by my employers they were going to have to lay me off because their other businesses were failing and they were going to only be running this business. They gave me 3 months notice. Then one month later they fired me out of the blue. Actually a customer who'd become a friend was the one who told me first. She'd called and asked for me and was told "she doesn't work here anymore." I had worked my buns off for them. I was totally shocked. How do I handle this in interviews?
