2,000 Insurance Jobs Added in January, 2019
The insurance industry bounced back to gain 2,000 jobs in January after losing 500 jobs in December, according to the most recent Employment Situation Report released on February 1.
The insurance industry now employs 2,704,100 persons, with an unemployment rate of 1.9 percent. Over the last three months, the industry has added 4,300 insurance jobs.
Across all industries, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 304,000 in January, and the unemployment rate edged up to 4.0 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in several industries, including leisure and hospitality, construction, health care, and transportation and warehousing.
