Insurance Adds 11,400 Jobs in July, 2019

The insurance industry added 11,400 insurance jobs in July, according to preliminary numbers released in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Economic Situation report. 

The insurance industry now employs 2,724,100 persons, with an unemployment rate of 1.6 percent. July employment was the largest gain reported so far in 2019. Since the beginning of the year, the industry has only averaged 3,000 jobs a month. 

Across all industries, payroll employment increased by 164,000 jobs with notable job gains in professional and technical services (+31,000), health care (+30,000), social assistance (+20,000), and financial activities (+18,000).
